Our Team
Adam Becker-Hafnor
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
I am the co-founder and lead consultant of StorySpring. I have 15 years of experience bringing enterprise-level communications support to non-profits, education organizations, and public sector clients. Following my time as the director of high impact communications at The Mental Health Center of Denver, I shaped StorySpring to work with forward-thinking leaders to share their visions, specializing in creative direction, brand strategy, and assembling talented teams for impactful communications campaigns. A founding member of Denver’s Aria Cohousing, I am passionate about community, creativity, and making our world a more connected place. In recent years I’ve begun studying the craft of natural building, a way in which I believe we can reshape our narrative about the built environment while creating a more sustainable future.

EVENTS & FACILITATION
As a StorySpring co-founder, I work to help non-profits, change-makers, and intentional communities foster connection through strategic facilitation, coaching, and meaningful event design. A social worker at heart, I bring over a decade of experience in non-profit leadership, higher education, and strategic community engagement from my time at the University of Denver and Cohousing Association of the United States to our StorySpring partnerships. I’m a passionate advocate for collective housing, and believe that addressing loneliness, environmental challenges, and housing inaccessibility starts with rethinking how we relate to one another. Based in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, I find joy in pottery and gathering people around a shared purpose. As a new beekeeper, I’m currently learning the intricate, ancient, and absolutely critical story of the bees.

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
As the operations director at StorySpring, I provide project management, workflow optimization and efficiency, resource allocation, client relationship development and alignment, expectation management, team collaboration, and visionary leadership. I am a trained and practicing social worker who recognizes the amazing work organizations are doing to help improve local communities and the world at large. Working with StorySpring provides an opportunity to partner with world-changing organizations to amplify their stories. I live in Houston, Texas. In my spare time I enjoy traveling the world, exploring local coffee shops, and trying new things. Pilates is my newest challenge. I'd love to learn more about verbal storytelling including podcasts and audio stories.
Michael Stephan
VIDEOGRAPHER
I’m a creative professional who specializes in video storytelling. There are many different types of video marketing, but what makes me excited about the work we do is getting to tell stories with heart. I take a person-centered approach to video, and am inspired by all the incredible people I get to meet: the change-makers, nurturers, and those who look out for others. They excite the passion in me to make this art on their behalf. I live in Parker, Colorado, with my beautiful blended family. We love to hike and camp and just enjoy the outdoors. I'd love to get into painting or illustration to expand my art. At the end of the day, people are what matter most and telling their story is truly what I love doing.
Basmala Ahmad
WEB AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER
I've been a graphic and web designer at StorySpring since 2021. I help our clients translate their visions into stunning websites, magazines, flyers, memes, brochures, and more to share with the world. The most inspiring part of my work is getting to tell the stories of passionate individuals and organizations doing work to improve their communities. Based in Chicago, I spend my free time jumping between hobbies—ranging from painting to cycling to the ceremonial art of matcha making. One form of art-making/storytelling I'm particularly eager to explore further is painting. The ability of some artists to convey a novel’s worth of meaning in a single canvas truly amazes me.
Vanessa Kauffman Zimmerly
CONTENT CREATOR
I’m a writer and editor who joined the StorySpring team in 2024. My experience is in non-profit communications, journalism, and publication production. I work to find the right words to communicate each StorySpring client’s message, while taking a birds-eye view of all deliverables to ensure we’re creating a cohesive representation of your organization. Originally from the West Coast, I now live in Denver, where I spend my days reading and writing (even in my free time!), practicing small-space gardening, and searching for an equivalent to the Pacific Ocean. One form of storytelling I'd like to learn more about is puppetry—I'm endlessly inspired by Bread & Puppet Theater, who have been creating evocative large-scale puppets for use in street theater for over 60 years.
